Monique Thibodeaux-Jackson

I am an LCSW Clinical Supervisor who has worked in the Social Work profession for 20 years. I am currently employed full time at the Veterans Administration, but have a variety of clinical experience working with children and families, conducting child custody and adoption home studies, and as a therapist in private practice for a number of years. Prior to my employment with the VA, I worked in child welfare for 15 years as a foster care social worker, family preservation worker, and individual and family therapist, which has provided me with a wealth of knowledge of children's and family issues along with my work with the adult, Veteran population who has serious mental illness and substance abuse issues.

I hold an LCSW license in the State of Texas as well as California. I am currently a board-approved clinical supervisor in both states. I have supervised a number of social workers preparing for their LCSW, and have a 100% pass rate on the ASWB Clinical Exam with all of my supervisees.

I prefer providing supervision in a group format, because I firmly believe that, as social workers, we learn from each other's clinical experiences. However, I will also be available for individual sessions as needed to discuss goals along with ethical and boundary issues. My theoretical orientation is eclectic, but I usually utilize Cognitive Behavioral, Solution Focused, and Systems Theory in my clinical work with clients. I believe that clinical supervision should be provided in a supportive and safe environment that supports the supervisee's professional goals and allows them the opportunity to learn new clinical and professional skills.
